Road Awareness Event
Date: Tuesday 06 October 2015
Time: 10:00–14:00
Venue: Chancellors Court (next to “Old Joe”), University of Birmingham main campus

The NIHR SRMRC are teaming up with the West Midlands Fire Service, the University of Birmingham’s Guild of Students, West Midlands Police, and the West Midlands Ambulance Service for a road awareness event on 06 October 2015.

The event, which will take place by the University’s Old Joe Clock Tower from 10:00 to 14:00 welcomes University students and staff to come and visit our stands, highlighting the importance of driver and cyclist awareness on the roads of Birmingham as the new academic year begins and the evening light draws in.

Please come along to learn more about road awareness from our experts, grab some freebies, and take your chance to  win a year’s Brompton Dock Membership!

Other highlights from the event will include the chance to sit inside a Heavy Goods Vehicle cab and see the road from the perspective of a lorry driver (thanks to the Birmingham Exchanging Places programme), and a live accident re-enactment by the West Midlands Travel Police team will take place at 12:30.

The NIHR SRMRC will be hosting a research stand, displaying useful information and research findings from within the Centre and across the University of Birmingham. Also present will be Bike Right, who provide free cycle skills tuition and bike maintenance training across the West Midlands, and Urban Cycles, a campus-based cycle maintenance service.

It looks set to be an exciting and informative event; we look forward to seeing you there!
